Celtic boss Neil Lennon could have a significant transfer choice to make if AC Milan approach them to signal Kristoffer Ajer when the transfer window opens.

According to Italian book CalcioMercato, Milan are available for a young promising defender and have made Ajer a transfer target.

Milan are thought to be searching for a strong defender with leadership skills and can handle the pressure of playing in the San Siro.

And Milan believe 21-year-old Ajer meets those requirements.

While having formerly played as a defensive midfielder in Norway, the child was moulded into a promising centre-back in Celtic.

The report asserts Milan’s scouts hold the player in excellent respect and are optimistic Celtic will think about a bid given that Ajer’s contract expires in 2022.

However, in addition, it asserts Celtic have made it clear that they will require a high price for one of the talented players.

Milan have been tipped to bring in a new manager in the summer, with the club now sat in Serie A and at risk of not qualifying for any European football next year.

However, the club chiefs aren’t waiting around to start on their transfer plans, with Kjaer place to return to Sevilla at the end of his loan and Musacchio not viewed as a regular starter.

The 29-year-old has just made 18 appearances for the club this year and the player’s representative, Marcelo Lombilia believes his client was treated unfairly by the club.

According to Italian book Milan News, Lombilia stated Musacchio wasn’t happy about losing his place after having sacrificed himself for Milan.

“It is very complicated when a participant gives everything, tries to prove he is worth the money they pay him and then gets injured because of overload,” Lombilia stated.

“Because the trainer asked you to and because the team needed you due to the absence of someone else.”

“You stop for three matches and then you return to learn you are on the bench. You’re currently the third in line in the defensive hierarchy.”
