Lothar Matthaus considers that Mario Gotze is not quick enough to perform at the Bundesliga anymore and has indicated that the Borussia Dortmund attacker should attempt playing in Serie A rather than continue in Bundesliga
The 27-year-old has made 19 entire looks for Dortmund this year, only half of which have come as a rookie.
With Serie A clubs such as AC Milan and Roma reported to possess a fascination with the Borussia Dortmund player, Matthaus has invited Gotze to proceed into a league that he thinks matches his personality much better than the Bundesliga.
“I presume his period in Dortmund has finished,” Matthaus stated of Gotze in his column for Sky. “I would be quite surprised if there may be an arrangement in the upcoming discussions.
“Nowadays, his manner of playing soccer is no more in demand. Most importantly he lacks the speed to stay informed about the soccer that Dortmund and lots of other leading clubs clinic.
“The transfer to FC Bayern wasn’t exactly what he dreamed of at the end.
However, Gotze never attained the heights due to him Bayern and in 2016 he returned into Dortmund, where he’s been out of favour through his second spell with the team.
Together with Gotze’s profession at a crossroads, Matthaus has invited him to think about a movement to Italy.
“Gotze must locate a club and overall a trainer who build about him and align the match aims together with him” Matthaus continued.
“It’s very possible that Italy could be a suitable league because of him. At least the match isn’t played so fast there and this will benefit him.
“He does not have any shortage of will. I’ve seen him perform several times and you can certainly not accuse him of listlessness or absence of ambition.
“However, he’s also not the participant that you need to see jogging 30 metres back to win balls deep in his own half. Gotze isn’t a football employee. If he’s got to perform such jobs, I am almost sorry”
